Scottie Scheffler was without his caddie Ted Scott for the victory at the BMW Championship on Sunday, and an update has been given on the veteran bagman’s status for the Tour Championship

Scottie Scheffler’s trusted caddie, Ted Scott, is set to be back on the bag this week after the veteran looper missed the world No. 1’s victory at the BMW Championship for personal reasons.
Scott is in Atlanta for the FedEx Cup finale, the Tour Championship at East Lake, after spending last week at home in Louisiana while his boss racked up another big win in Maryland. The tournament tees off on Thursday, with Scheffler chasing his sixth win of a remarkable season.
Scott and Scheffler have worked together since 2021 — sharing a “𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ish” financial arrangement — and have formed arguably the strongest player-caddie partnership in the sport. Scott, who steered Bubba Watson to a pair of Masters wins before being hired by Scheffler, had been on the bag for all 17 of the four-time major champion’s PGA Tour wins until Sunday’s $3.6 million triumph at Caves Valley.
Scheffler had Chris Kirk’s regular caddie, Michael Cromie, on the bag near Baltimore, and they quickly settled as a partnership. The 29-year-old came from four behind to beat Bob Macintyre to the title by two shots on Sunday, earning his stand-in caddie a career-high payday in the region of $360,000.
Despite growing his lore with a come-from-behind win that was punctuated by an epic chip on the 17th to stick the dagger into MacIntyre’s challenge, Scheffler still had his caddie and his loved ones at the front of his mind.
“Ted is at home with his family, and he’s where he’s supposed to be,” Scheffler said. “We’re praying for them, and his family is doing all right.

“Cromie did a great job this week. It’s not easy stepping in and trying to fill in for Ted. Those are some big shoes to fill, but he did a great job. Him and Ted are good buddies, and I’m really thankful to have him on the bag this week. It was a lot of fun.”
Brad Payne carried Scheffler’s bag for the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship seven days previously, when Scott had to make a quick exit to tend to matters at home.
But he is back to work this weekend, and the duo will be oozing with confidence after Scheffler continued a golden run of five wins in his past starts, winning the PGA Championship and Open Championship in the process. The news was confirmed by the PGA Tour’s senior writer, Paul Hodowanic.
