The accident, which occurred at 12:30 a.m., claimed the lives of both Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre, 26, when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. According to the Guardia Civil, preliminary investigations point to a tyre burst during an overtaking maneuver as the primary cause of the crash. “A vehicle left the road, and everything indicates a tyre burst while overtaking,” the Guardia Civil told Sky Sports News. “As a result of the accident, the car caught fire, and both individuals were 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed.”
Addressing speculation on social media and among some fan groups suggesting that Diogo Jota’s death was a suicide, the police firmly dismissed these claims as baseless. “There is no evidence to support rumors of suicide,” a spokesperson for the Guardia Civil stated. “Such claims are entirely unfounded and disrespectful to the victims and their families.
