Directed by Guillermo del Toro, this spiritual sequel continues Edward’s tragic journey in a world that has forgotten wonder—and replaced it with fear.

Plot Overview

Set many years after the events of the original 1990 film, Garden in Hell finds Edward living in self-imposed exile, hidden deep within a decaying botanical sanctuary. Once a symbol of misunderstood beauty, he is now seen by society as a relic of the past—until he is discovered by Lilith Vale (Kate Beckinsale), a botanist who is fascinated by the forbidden garden she believes holds the secret to eternal life.

But her arrival stirs the roots of something ancient that lives beneath the soil—something Edward’s scissorhands may have helped plant long ago.

Trailer Highlights (Coming Soon):

  • A snowy time-lapse of a once-lush garden transforming into black vines.

  • Depp’s Edward stepping from the shadows, his silhouette framed by twisting trees.

  • Kate Beckinsale brushing snow off a statue of Edward’s first sculpture.

  • A whispered line from Edward: “I gave life… and now I must bury it.”

Tone and Style

Garden in Hell is described as a dark fantasy gothic romance, blending the melancholy of Tim Burton’s original vision with Guillermo del Toro’s lush, shadowy visual language. Practical sets, elaborate costumes, and delicate use of stop-motion effects are said to bring a handmade, eerie quality to the film.

Danny Elfman returns to compose the score, promising a haunting evolution of the original’s famous theme.
