Every TV host who has spoken out on Jimmy Kimmel – From Fox News to CNN anchors
Take a look over all of the well-known television hosts who have spoken out following the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the ABC Network amid political controversy
Jimmy Kimmel was indefinitely suspended from ABC
As ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air, several anchors and television show hosts have offered sharply different takes, from free-speech warnings to blunt condemnations.
The network announced an indefinite suspension of the fan-favorite late-night show after backlash to Kimmel’s comments about the 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ing of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Particularly, MAGA supporters were fuming after Kimmel labeled the Kirk assassin as ‘one of them.’
ABC’s affiliate owner Sinclair ‘indefinitely’ pulled Kimmel from the air following the comments, even adding that he won’t be able to return to the air until he “issues a direct apology to the Kirk family” and makes a “meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.”

The removal of the show sparked an on-air fight about free speech, corporate pressure, and where responsibility for on-air remarks should fall.

Jake Tapper
CNN’s Jake Tapper took to Stephen Colbert’s show on Thursday, where he warned that if Americans have lost the freedom to “mock” or “criticize” their political leaders, then the country would be “no longer the United States of America.”
During his sit down on The Late Show, Tapper highlighted the pattern of events that led to Kimmel’s suspension, pointing out remarks by Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr on a podcast the day prior. Tapper suggested Carr was “telling companies what to do” and triggered a chain of events by affiliate media conglomerates looking to form a merger.
Laura Ingraham
Fox’s Laura Ingraham defended the suspension of Kimmel, rejecting the idea that this is only about “cancel culture.” She described calling it that as “ridiculously stupid.” Ingraham argued, “The market is speaking in this case. Jokes about this assassination at this time just seems to be incredibly reckless, and making one based on a libelous falsehood is even worse.”
Greg Gutfeld
Greg Gutfeld was also critical of Kimmel’s comments. On Fox’s The Five, he said, “The guy who shot Charlie Kirk was likely a fan of yours.”
Gutfeld also labeled Kimmel as “the bad guy in the movie” who has “stuck with this delusion about Trump supporters…for years. I hate to tell you buddy, but the guy who shot and 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed Charlie Kirk was more likely a fan of yours.”
Brian Kilmeade
Kilmeade did criticize Kimmel, but he also came under fire for his own remarks. During a Fox & Friends segment about a separate case (the 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ing of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte), Kilmeade said, “Or involuntary lethal injection or something. Just 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 ’em.” when discussing homeless, mentally ill individuals who refuse help. He later apologized, calling the remark “extremely callous,” and acknowledged that many homeless people deserve “empathy and compassion.”
