Golf legend John Daly landed the lead part as the older brother of Happy Gilmore in Happy Gilmore 2 after carving out a successful, albeit unconventional, professional golf career.

The 59-year-old has always had a unique style. Daly is a true Maverick, with the Hooters-sponsored golfer one-of-one from how he plays, dresses, eats, sleeps, drinks, and smokes. The two-time major winner is just as chaotic off the golf green as he is on it.

Still, it’s earned him a handsome sum of money to support his lifestyle, including four marriages and a fifth engagement to his current long-term partner, Anna Cladakis. It’s unclear how much Daly’s prominent role in Happy Gilmore 2 will earn him.

Daly plays a large role in the new Netflix original film, which is being released 29 years on from the original.

“I’m kind of Happy’s brother. Hopefully, it’s coming out July 25th. I haven’t heard when the premiere is coming out,” Daly said on Like a Farmer Podcast.

“But I had a blast. And Adam’s been a friend of mine for a long time. We just had a blast doing it. It’s funny, funny, funny. That’s all I’m going to say. It is awesome,” he added.

“He’s amazing. He’s probably one of the best for-seeked actors right now. And he was more into this one. Maybe he produces a lot of his movies,” Daly continued.

“I’m not for sure. I didn’t ask him. We just to meet his family and see how his beautiful daughter’s grown up.

“It was really cool. But I don’t know how. My agent called me and says, ‘Hey, I think you’re going to be in Happy Gilmore 2.’ I go, ‘Really?; And most of the time, it’d be like, am I going to be on the range?

“Maybe 10 seconds? He goes, ‘No, you’re going to be his brother. You’re going to get him back to playing golf.’ So it’s supposed to come out July 25th on Netflix. So get ready.”
