The 4 Turkish Drones in Service with Pakistan (Explained)

In a groundbreaking development that could reshape regional power dynamics, Pakistan has rapidly integrated advanced Turkish drone technology into its military arsenal as of 2025. This strategic partnership not only bolsters Pakistan’s defense capabilities but also signals a significant shift in the landscape of drone warfare.

Leading the charge is the Bayraktar TB2, a medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned combat aerial vehicle that has already proven its mettle in global conflicts, including the recent Ukraine war. With a top speed of 222 km/h, an operational ceiling of 25,000 ft, and an impressive endurance of 27 hours, the TB2 is equipped for precision strikes and reconnaissance missions. Its effectiveness has made it a cornerstone of Pakistan’s military modernization, with operational use beginning in 2022.

Adding to Pakistan’s aerial might is the Bayraktar Akinci, a high-altitude long-endurance drone that enhances long-range strike capabilities. Pakistan’s acquisition of its first batch in 2023 positions it among a select group of nations able to deploy this advanced platform. With a maximum speed of 361 km/h and the ability to operate at altitudes up to 45,000 ft, the Akinci is a formidable strategic asset.

The TEI Anka drone further amplifies Pakistan’s operational reach, featuring a combat data link range of 250 km and the ability to carry a payload of 350 kg. It promises all-weather intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities, vital for modern warfare.

In a dramatic escalation, Pakistan has reportedly employed swarm tactics using the Assisgard Songar tactical quadcopter drone, launching coordinated attacks that have overwhelmed traditional defenses. This tactic marks a turning point in drone warfare, showcasing the lethal potential of low-cost drones in high-stakes conflicts.

With around 300 to 400 drones deployed in these operations, the implications for regional security are profound. As Pakistan embraces these cutting-edge technologies, the balance of power in the region hangs in the balance, raising urgent questions about future conflicts and military engagements. The world watches closely as this aerial evolution unfolds.
