Lewis Hamilton donates millions, adopts 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren and dogs after deadly Texas flood

AUSTIN, TEXAS — In a moving gesture that has captured global attention, Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 world champion and current Ferrari driver, has pledged a staggering $25 million to support 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren and animals affected by the catastrophic floods that devastated Central Texas last week.

The donation, announced just days after what experts have labeled “the worst flood disaster in the U.S. in a century,” will go toward rebuilding shelters, sponsoring orphaned 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, and supporting emergency veterinary clinics.

According to The Economist (July 7), more than 100 lives were lost in the flash floods that tore through Kerr County in the early hours of July 4. Among the victims were 27 young girls and multiple staff members at a Christian summer camp who were swept away by floodwaters. Meteorologists have cited a deadly combination of extreme rainfall, treacherous terrain, and a failed early-warning system as key factors behind the disaster.

“I couldn’t just watch and do nothing,” Hamilton says

Speaking at a press conference in Maranello, Hamilton was visibly emotional.

“As a human being, I couldn’t stand by while 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren were left without families, and animals without homes,” he said. “This is not about racing, this is about humanity. If I can provide safety, warmth, and love — I will.”

Hamilton confirmed that, in addition to his financial support, he has personally adopted three orphaned 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren who survived the flooding and plans to build a rescue sanctuary in Austin for over 200 displaced dogs.

Global Applause

Social media erupted in support. Twitter user @F1ForLife posted:

“Lewis Hamilton just reminded the world what a real hero looks like. This goes way beyond sport.”

The Ferrari team also issued a statement:

“We are proud to stand behind Lewis and his mission to give back. This is the spirit of a true champion.”

Flood Outlook Remains Dangerous

Forecasters warn that more heavy rainfall is expected in the region through the coming weekend. Emergency responders continue to search for missing persons, while shelters overflow with displaced families and lost pets.

The National Weather Service has launched an internal review into the failed alarm system and delayed response. Calls for infrastructure reform are mounting.

A Message of Hope

In a closing statement, Hamilton said:

“The road ahead will be difficult. But every 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, every dog we save — that’s victory.”

As the nation mourns, Hamilton’s compassion has become a rare ray of light amid overwhelming tragedy.
